The trigger is nearly always the same: a shared spreadsheet that grew for three years, two systems that do not talk to each other, and one person on the team whose real job has become copying data between them.
We start by trying not to build anything
The first workshop is as much about disqualifying as about scoping. If an existing product covers 80% of the need for a few hundred euros a month, custom development is a bad deal, and we will say so.
Custom becomes the right call when one of these holds:
- Your process is specific and is genuinely an advantage over competitors.
- Subscriptions and manual workarounds already cost more than the tool would.
- You need systems to talk to each other that no off-the-shelf product connects properly.
A usable version before anything else
We do not disappear for six months and return with a finished project. We identify the highest-value journey, build it, and put it in front of a real user — usually within four to six weeks.
It feels uncomfortable at first because the tool is visibly incomplete. It is also the only way to find out early that the feature everyone called essential during scoping is used by nobody.
The technical choices, and why
We work with Next.js and TypeScript, PostgreSQL for data, and managed hosting. These are not the most impressive technologies on the market, and that is deliberate: they are stable, heavily documented, and another supplier can pick the project up without difficulty.
Automated tests cover the paths where an outage costs you money — not every line of code. Total coverage is an expensive goal that mostly reassures the supplier.
What you end up with
The code in your repository, infrastructure on your accounts, readable technical documentation, and a handover session with your team or your next supplier. We stay on for maintenance if you want us to, not because you have no alternative.

How much does a custom web application cost?
A first usable version typically lands between €15,000 and €45,000, depending on the number of user journeys and the complexity of the business rules. We always quote in stages, so you can stop or change direction at each one.
Why not use off-the-shelf software?
Most of the time you should. Custom is only justified when your process is a competitive advantage, or when subscriptions and manual workarounds already cost more than the tool would. We will tell you plainly during scoping.
What happens if we stop midway?
You keep the code and the infrastructure, and what has shipped works. That is exactly why we work in stages and ship something usable each cycle rather than one big delivery at the end.
Do you handle maintenance afterwards?
Yes, monthly or on demand. But the point of the handover is that you are not forced to take it.
